Coven of the Serpent's Blood
The Coven of the Serpent's Blood is a large and powerful Darkling Coven in Anvilgard and later Har Kuron. The coven played a significant role in the Fall of Anvilgard and continues to wield considerable power in the new order.[1a][1b][2b]
Membership
In Anvilgard, the Coven of the Serpent's Blood was estimated to outnumber the city's Freeguilds. It was believed that the Darkling Sorceresses that controlled the coven - and, in particular, the coven matriarch Drusa Kraeth - had an additional number of magically enthralled 'whisperers' hidden within the city whose allegiance was unknown even to the agents themselves.[1a][1b][2a] While a number of coven members died during or shortly after the Fall of Anvilgard, the coven's key role in the coup saw many surviving high-ranking members elevated to senior positions in Har Kuron's government.[2b]
Influence
The leader of the Coven of the Serpent's Blood, Drusa Kraeth, secretly led the Blackscale Coil criminal organization in the years leading up to Anvilgard's fall, and through it she was essentially the de facto leader of the city.[1a][1b][2a] With the new order in Har Kuron, Drusa Kraeth was given the responsibility for rebuilding the city's shattered neighbourhoods, and her enthralled work gangs work endlessly to build the new Khainite city.[2b] When the Nighthaunt attacked Har Kuron on the night of the Feast of Kharybtar some years after the coup, it was Kraeth who took command of the city's defenders, even commanding the Scáthborn Khinerai in order to coordinate the response.[3a]
