Slaughterpriest
Slaughterpriests are the demagogues of the Khorne Bloodbound, priests of the Blood God and beacons of his power.[1a][2a]
Prayers
Slaughterpriests raise their voices in prayer to Khorne, and through them flows the Blood God's power. They are prophets and preachers, receiving visions showing where the warhorde must travel to enact Khorne's will and compelling warriors to ever-increasing heights of violence. While the Bloodbound need little encouragement to fight, a Slaughterpriest's blood-fuelled prayers can inflame the blood of even the most stoic foe, compelling them to charge forward in a frenzy or hold their ground and fight when the prudent course would be retreat. Alternatively, the priest can increase the fury so that their enemies' blood boils out of them in a crimson mist.[1b][2b][3a]
They can wreath their fellow Khornates' weapons in red-hot daemonic fire, make the skin of their allies as hard as the hide of a Juggernaut, and channel their deity's scorn of sorcery to debilitate those cowards who attempt magic against them or simply crush any attempts at channelling arcane energy.[1b][4b][5b] If necessary, the Slaughterpriest knows how to draw Khorne's eye by blood sacrifice, carving their own flesh or that of their allies - for Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows.[5b][4a]
Slaughterpriests gain their powers by regularly drinking the heartsblood of fallen foes, mixed with a deadly cocktail of warpstone fragments and daemonic gore. The more a priest drinks, the more likely it is that Khorne will grant his dark blessings, and the more the priest's form swells with hellish musculature until they tower over their fellow Khornates. However, should their offerings prove wanting, their next draught will twist them into Chaos Spawn or kill them by boiling them from the inside out.[1a][3a][5a]
Equipment
As devoted of the Lord of Skulls, Slaughterpriests are gifted warriors. They chant their prayers in the heart of the melee as they cut down foes with wicked, gore-drenched weapons. Many prefer a huge ritual Bloodbathed Axe with a haft the height of a mortal man. Others fight with jagged Hackblades and spiked ball-and-chains called Wrath-hammers.[1a][2b][4a]
